Plastic packaging

It’s easy to feel a bit blue about plastic in the oceans.  Ocean material gets into the heart of the matter; by keeping plastic in our economic system we are doing a small bit to preserve marine beauty. Like all our panels, Ocean should stay beautiful for future generations to come.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does using these materials compare to virgin plastics or other surface materials?

Using recycled plastic saves raw material and energy, reduces landfill, and promotes circular design. Compared to virgin plastics or non-renewable surfacing, Smile Plastics offers sustainability benefits without compromising aesthetics or durability.

Are the panels recyclable?

Yes — the sheets are made from 100 % recycled plastic and are themselves recyclable, closing a loop in the circular economy.

What is the lead time for orders?

We collect from SMILE 1-2 times a week and will aim to deliver to you in 1-4 working days from order for items that are in stock. Contact us to find out the lead time for your requirement.

How do I clean and maintain the material?

The panels are designed to be simple to maintain. Regular cleaning with mild detergent and non-abrasive cloths is generally sufficient. Avoid harsh abrasives, solvents, or strong acids. (You may provide a more detailed maintenance guideline on your site.)

In what kinds of projects can Smile Plastics be used?

Very widely. Typical applications include:

  • Tables, tabletops, counters

  • Seating elements

  • Storage units, cabinetry

  • Wall panelling and decorative surfaces

  • Small product parts and design elements

  • Washrooms and interior wet zones

  • Exhibition, retail, and hospitality interiors

Are there any harmful emissions or VOC issues?

No — Smile Plastics sheets are made from chemically inert recycled plastics and have non-detectable levels of VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds), as confirmed via independent testing.

What kinds of recycled plastic are used?

There are different core materials depending on the range: for example, PET (100% recycled and recyclable) and HIPS are used in various ranges.

Are the sheets identical?

No — because each panel is made from recycled material, no two boards are exactly the same. Every sheet carries its own unique character in colour and pattern.

What sheet sizes and thicknesses are available for SMILE Plastics?

Panels measure 3000 × 1200 mm. The default thicknesses are 12 mm and 20 mm. Alba is also available in 5mm. Custom thicknesses and dimensions may be available via the Made-to-Order service.
