Frequently Asked Questions

How thick is Hanex Solid Surface?

Hanex Solid Surface sheets are typically manufactured in 12mm thickness as standard. This offers the ideal balance between strength, flexibility, and ease of fabrication—especially for seamless joins and thermoforming. Other thicknesses, such as 6mm are available for specialist applications or vertical surfaces, but 12mm is the most commonly specified for worktops, counters, and integrated installations.

Does Hanex need sealing?

No. Hanex is inherently non-porous, so it doesn’t require sealing or resealing—unlike granite or marble.

Does Hanex have antibacterial properties?

Hanex inhibits the growth of bacteria thanks to its non-porous, seamless finish. While it doesn’t contain active antimicrobial agents, it’s easy to clean and doesn’t harbour germs.

Can I cut directly on Hanex worktops?

It’s durable, but not scratch-proof. Always use a chopping board to protect the surface. If scratches occur, they can often be sanded out or refinished.

Can I place hot pans or appliances directly on Hanex?

No. Hanex is heat-resistant up to around 100 °C (212 °F), but direct contact with hot cookware or heat-generating appliances can cause discolouration or cracking. Always use a trivet or heat pad.

What should I avoid using on Hanex?

Avoid harsh chemicals such as oven cleaners, paint removers, drain cleaners, or acetone. If any of these come into contact with the surface, rinse immediately with water to prevent damage or discolouration.

Do solid surface countertops scratch easily?

While solid surface countertops are durable and long-lasting, it is possible to scratch them if not cared for properly. Discover our guide with professional advice on how to care for your solid surface countertop here.

What cleaners are safe for solid surface countertops?

Non-abrasive, ammonia-based cleaners or regular household countertop cleaners are safe to use on your solid surface countertop.

What is Hanex made of?
